Sprowston Community High School – Oliver!

Emotive Sound and Light LTD has provided Sprowston Community High School with technical production services for a few years now. This years production was the classic Lionel Bart adaptation of the Charles Dickens novel, Oliver Twist. Emotive provided a lighting system using a mixture of the schools own dimming and tungsten generic fixtures adding our own Generics & scrollers as well as LED generics, LED bars and LED moving Spots and Washes. Extra suspension points were added using trussing legs, Static bar at high level and a truss to add an upstage lighting position for the cyc bars. Control was from our ETC Element lighting console and ARTnet node.

Sound was made up of our D&B loud speaker stock. Using Q7’s and Q10’s in the auditorium, and E3’s as centre fill and onstage monitoring. 20 ways of Sennheiser radio mic were used for the cast as well as Sennheiser ME36 Shotgun Mics for the ensemble numbers. Control was from our Yamaha Consoles. Our 48 channel Yamaha M7CL was used FOH with our TF1 used in the orchestra pit for band monitoring controlled locally by the MD, Chris Causon. Both consoles were networked together with Yamaha remote stage boxes. In the pit was a Yamaha Tio1608 and in Radio mic world was a Rio1608. Laptop system control via Dante Network manager and Sennheiser Wireless manager were also used as was FOH monitoring of the TF1 in the pit using Yamaha’s Stagemix via and iPad. Band monitoring was from local Yamaha MS10 Loudspeakers and Yamaha Monitor mix on musicians iPhones and iPod touches.

Emotive also provided the band riser, Rolling control riser that could be removed during the school day, Clearsonic acoustic screens, MD Video relay to a 32” LCD screen in clear view of the stage and Video recording using our Canon Video cameras and SJ Cam action cameras.

Crew from Emotive were Nic Watkinson on sound, Alex Cann on Lighting, Richard Chilvers on Camera with Kyle Fuller, Mike Lynn and Darren Fuller assisting with the get out.

For the school, The production was directed by Anna Lawrence, Musical director was Chris Causon and Stage Managed by Amy Bedder with a raft of teachers and students in various roles from follow spot to stage hand to FOH duties.
